What is the definition of “Anaphora”?

“Anaphora” pronounced uh-naf-er-uh, a·naph·o·ra – /əˈnaf(ə)rə/ – noun. The word Anaphora is a Greek word that is used to describe the part of the Christian Orthodox Liturgy that is the Offering.  It also represents our commitment to excellence.

  1. Merriam-Webster defines Anaphora as: Repetition of a word or expression at the beginning of successive phrases, clauses, sentences, or verses especially for rhetorical or poetic effect by building toward a climax, Anaphora can create a strong emotional effect. Adjective: anaphoric. Compare with epiphora and epistrophe. Also called epanaphora. Rhetoric. Repetition of a word or words at the beginning of two or more successive verses, clauses, or sentences.
  2. Word Origin and Etymology: 1572-90; Late Latin, from Late Greek, from Greek, act of carrying back, reference, from anapherein to carry back, refer, from ana- + pherein to carry, akin to pherein to carry, bring; cf. -phore, -phorous
  3. Literary Origin: In writing or speech, the deliberate repetition of the first part of the sentence in order to achieve an artistic effect is known as Anaphora.Anaphora, possibly the oldest literary device, has its roots in Biblical Psalms used to emphasize certain words or phrases. Gradually, Elizabethan and Romantic writers brought this device into practice. Examine the following psalm:

“O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.
My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long?”

The repetition of the phrase “O Lord,” attempts to create a spiritual sentiment. This is anaphora.

Anaphora Discs has developed a reputation of excellence in everything that we do, from duplicating CDs & DVDs for independent musicians, small businesses and some of the largest corporations in the world, to producing and developing national musical artists.

No one is more committed to excellence than Anaphora Discs.

What is the difference between replication and duplication?
Replication is a detailed process that involves creating a glass plate which is used as a stamp to press discs. Duplication is a much less involved process using CD-R and DVD-R recordable discs. Please click HERE for a more detailed explanation.

Which process is right for my project, replication or duplication?
Typically, replication is more suited for higher quantities, while duplication is more suited for projects that require fast turnaround or low quantities. The details of your project will usually dictate the process that you need. Generally orders of 500 or less are duplicated and orders of 1000 or more are replicated. Orders of 500 to 999 can usually be replicated or duplicated at no difference in cost although replication will take longer to complete. By default 500 to 999 quantities are duplicated unless replication is specifically requested. Contact us if you need assistance determining which process is best for your project needs.

In what format should I send my images and files (art, audio, video)?
For Artwork Image Design/Graphics: Images that are not included in a template may be sent as PSD (Photoshop), PDF, EPS, or high quality JPG. We also accept other file types such as Tiff, Indesign, Illustrator, and many other file formats in some instances but please check with us before submitting file types other than PSD, PDF, EPS or high quality JPG. Art files can be sent on a disc in addition to your master (if you’re providing a physical master disc) or emailed if 10MB or less individually to info@anaphoramusic.com. Accompany all files with a description of how you would like the general layout. For larger files see FAQ question “Can I upload the master disc content or design files?below for details on submitting files via FTP.

  • Please make sure file resolution is 300 dpi for highest image quality.
  • To insure the font chosen for your artwork does not get replaced, please convert all fonts to outlines or include ttf font files with your files.
  • If your image artwork has bleeds that extend to edge of design please be sure to include 0.125″ bleeds extended around your image.

For Audio Music Tracks: Please number your tracks within the file name of the track in the order you would like them to appear on the master disc we create for you. Check file name to ensure spelling matches your artwork track names if you would like CD-Text data to match your art.

.WAV (Waveform Audio) files are CD quality and typically give you the best quality. Make sure the original is .wav and not converted to .wav from another formatted as that will not increase quality. We can also accept MP3, M4A, AAIF (Audio Interchange File Format) and other file formats for your audio tracks so long as you’re aware the quality of the sound will not be as good as .wav files.

  • Make sure your tracks are NOT DRM (Digital Rights Management) Copyright Protected.
  • For best audio quality make sure your files are: Stereo (2-channel) and Encoded with 44.1 kHz sample rate.

DDP (Disc Description Protocol) & ISO Image (For CD & DVD)
file types are also accepted for Replication orders and some limited duplication orders.

For Video files we also accept: mpeg-4, mov (quicktime) as well as other formats (contact us for details).

Can Anaphora Discs design the layout for my order?
Yes. We have excellent graphic artists that can help you with your project. From basic assistance to full concept to logo creation, we are your professional CD/DVD graphic design solution.

What is proofing (digital and physical)?
If required, Digital proofs (viewed on your computer monitor) are typically free of charge. We also offer physical hard copy proofs at an additional fee (contact us for details). Once your artwork is ready for duplication or replication, a sample view (called a proof) is emailed to you for approval if one is necessary for your particular project. The process of receiving and approving proofs is called proofing. Once your proofs are emailed to you your project is on hold until your approval is received. Please note that  turn around time for your project begins after we have received your proof approval, not from time of order placement.
